By Loraine E Washburn

William Louis Harrison was born 27 April 1940 on the Harris farm in Section eleven of Banner Township, Woodbury County. He was born in the same room as his father. He started school at Banner No. 1, but after one year there, the rural schools were closed and he completed his elementary and high school years at Lawton graduating in May, 1958. For about a year he worked for neighborhood farmers and then took a job for Albertson and Company (now Sioux Tools of Sioux City) and has remained in their employ to the present time. He has been a foreman since December 1974.

Bill lived on the farm with his parents until his marriage to Ruth Ann Stevenson, 28 June 1970, at Rockwell City, Iowa. The couple then lived in the Morningside area of Sioux City until about 1977, when they purchased a home at 91 Elm Street, Lawton, Iowa. Here they are members of Bethel Lutheran Church.

Ruth was born 1 October1944 at Fort Dodge, Webster County, Iowa, the daughter of Lonnie and Bertha (Otto) Stevenson. She grew up in Rockwell City and was graduated from the high school there. She took nurses training at the Methodist Hospital in Sioux City, and after graduating remained there as an RN in the Pediatrics division of the hospital, where she is still employed.

Bill and Ruth have no children. Both enjoy traveling and are interested in oil painting, latchhook, and photography. She grew up in Rockwell City and was graduated from the high school there.
