Albert Ralph and Jessie June Smith Grow

Jessie June Smith was born at Oto on October 26, 1881. Her parents were John W Smith and Alminda ‘Allie’ Velira Winterringer. There was another child born to this marriage on April 14, 1884, he was named Artie and died May 2, 1884. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery in Grant Township. John W Smith was born in Ohio, August 23, 1852, and died on October 28, 1885. He too, was buried in Bethel Cemetery, Grant Township, Woodbury County, Iowa.

Jessie was married March 5, 1902, to Albert Ralph Grow. He had been born at Stuart, Nebraska, on November 24, 1967. His father was John, his grandfather was Thomas, his great grandfather, Joseph, his great great grandfather was John and his great great great grandfather was Artemas B Grow of Woodstock, Connecticut. (I happened on this, when I picked up ‘The History of Woodstock, Ct.’ and looked for Winterringer in the index. To my surprise I found Allie Winterringer and this information.)

Jessie and Albert Grow had four children: Laura, Grace, Hazel and Marie.

Albert was a farmer. He died March 12, 1935; burial was at Silver Ridge Cemetery, Ponca, Nebraska. Jessie died August 19, 1978 at O’Neill, Nebraska. Burial was in Silver Ridge Cemetery, Ponca, and Nebraska.

I-Laura Edna Grow was born April 20, 1904, at Hartington, Nebraska. She died February 9, 1927; burial was at Silver Ridge Cemetery, Ponca, Nebraska.

II-Grace Vilera Grow was born December 17, 1905, at Orchard, Nebraska. She married Alvin Samuel Roggow on March 5, 1927. He was living in Burke, South Daktoa, but had been born in Lindsey, Nebraska, on August 2, 1903, the son of William Roggow and Anna Schultz. They were the parents of five children: Bonna Mae, Mervin Albert, Leonard Alvin, Doris Jeanette, and Duane Robert. Grace and Alvin were farmers; at the time of their deaths they were living at Estherville, Iowa. Alvin died on March 24, 1960, and Grace passed away on October 13, 1975.

1-Bonna Mae Roggow was born July 27, 1928; she was married on October 29, 1950 to Dale Oren Rawlings, born September 27, 1932. They are farmers at Wallingford, Iowa, and have three chidlren: A-Greg Duane Rawlings, born June 9, 1960, married Christina Sorenson, bonr January 30, 1959, on December 17, 1982. They have a son, Grant Dale Rawlings, born June 8, 1983. B-Dalleen Renae Rawlings was born April 1, 1962. C-Gail Kevin Rawlings was born April 22, 1964.

2-Mervin Albert Roggow, born February 24, 1932, was married April 22, 1951, to Beverly Jean Carr, born September 5, 1932. They have two sons: Richard Allen, born September 9, 1954, and Rodney Mark, born August 13, 1960. They live at Carlos, Minnesota.

3-Leonard Alvin Roggow, born July 14, 1936, married Marcie Whitehill. They have two children: Bradley, born August 4, 1967, and Kathleen, born August 25, 1970; they live at Iowa City, Iowa.

4-Doris Jeanette Roggow, born January 20, 1940, was married to Allan Jensen, April 8, 1960, in Sioux City. Allan was born June 24, 1938, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They have three chidlren: Kyle, born September 6, 1963, married August 24, 1982, to Trish, born February 26, 1966; Keith, born January 12, 1965; and Kevin, born December 2, 1968.

5-Duane Robert Roggow, born June 9, 1945, married Paul Hamilton, born November 2, 1956. They have two girls: Tasha Lynn, born September 20, 1975, and Megan Marie, born August 26, 1977.

III-Hazel Viola Grow was born September 16, 1907, at Orchard, Nebraska. She married Orval Hubert Curry of Newcastle, Nebraska, on January 1, 1929, at Onawa, Iowa. Orval was born April 30, 1904, at Newcastle. They were the parents of three children: Harold Orval, Donald Duane and Ardel Marie.

1-Harold Orval Curry, born Septembe 5, 1932, married Geneva Roberts, September 24, 1954, at Newcastle, Nebraska, and is now a farmer there. They have five children: 1-Dwight Harold, born November 26, 1956, is a pastor, author at Wichita, Knasas. B-Duane Harlan, born October 30, 1958, at Newcastle, is now attending Bible School at Three Hills, Alberta, Canada. C-Melanie Kay, born September 24, 1963, at Ponca, Nebraska attends Bible School at LaGrange, Wyoming. D-David Wayne, born January 24, 1965, at Ponca, attends school at Curtis, Nebraska. E-Sharon Irene, born January 5, 1970, at Ponca, Nebraska.

2- Donald Duane Curry, born August 3, 1934 at Newcastle, Nebraska, married Elsie Elaine Weeks, born January 6, 1936, at Grand Island, Nebraska, on March 2, 1957, at Grand Island. Their four children: A-Pamela Gwen, born December 1, 1957, at Newcastle, married Wes Allan Jones, born August 20, 1959 in West Virginia. He is a pastor in Mitchell, South Dakota. They have two children: Brooks Ellen, born January 22, 1982, at Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and Jennifer Lee, born October 27, 1983, at Mitchell. B-Debra Lynn, born February 27, 1960, at Newcastle, married September 5, 1980, in Newcastle to Dave Allen Schultz, born August 2, 1957. Dave puts up steel bins. Daughter, Tonya Sue, was bornugust 22, 1981, at Minden, Nebraska. C-Ricky Duane, born May 17, 1965, at Ponca, Nebraska, is a veterinarian in Mitchell, South Dakota. D-Keith Allan, born May 17, 1965, at Ponca, Nebraska, attends college at Rapid City, South Dakota.

3-Ardel Marie Curry, born November 15, was married at Newcastle, Nebraska, to Thomas Dale Moore, a minister, on August 12, 1948. They have five children: Judy and Jean (twins), Sheryl, Darrel, and Laura. A-Judy Fay Moore, born July 14, 1949, was married July 1, 1972, in Denver to Stephen Hugh Kessler. He was born June 2, 1949. Their children are: Nancy Joy, born December 5, 1974; and Sheryl Lynn born July 30, 1976. B-Jeanie Kay Moore, born July 14, 1949, was married June 1, 1974, at Denver to Stephen Ira Lyman. C-Sheryl Marie Moore, born October 5, 1950, was married June 5, 1971, in Denver, to Don Ray Avis, who was born April 19, 1950. They adopted Kristi, born August 21, 1980. D-Darrell Thomas Moore, born April 28, 1953, was married August 6, 1976, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Kathy Pryor, born November 10. Their children: Rachel Ann, born November 2, 1978; Natalie Sue, born April 30, 1980; and Thomas Dale, born July 29, 1981. E-Laura Ardel Moore, born January 29, 1956, was married November 25, 1977, to Stephen Anthony Kneifl, born June 3, 1947 at Ponca, Nebraska.

IV-Katie ‘Marie’ Grow was born in Sioux City, Iowa, on April 19, 1909, the youngest daughter of Jessie and Albert Grow. (See Marie Grow Cadwallader.)
