Leona Melissa Gover, daughter of Walter and Rosa Lamb Glover, was born June 5, 1910, in Lakeport Township, Woodbury County, Iowa. She attended eight grades of school at the Glover School, and one year at Sloan High School.

She married Charles August Davis of Whiting, Iowa, December 15, 1930, and lived in Sloan or vicinity, excepte for a few months in South Dakota in 1936. Charles worked for Roy Rogers, Abel Molstad, Tom Martin, Clara Molstad, and Harold Alfredson of Woodbury County. He also worked for C E Daly of McCook, South Dakota. They moved to Omaha, Nebraska in May 1942, where Charlie obtained work at the Glenn L Martin Company. When the company closed after the war, he worked for Bill Rosenau in Bill’s new and used furniture store. They had bought a home in Bellevue, Nebraska, just at the edge of Omaha. In 1950, they sold and moved to Salt Lake City, and worked for John Deere Company. They bought a home there. In 1963, Charlie was transferred to Portland, Oregon. They sold their Salt Lake City home and bought a home in Gresham, just at the edge of Portland.

Their two daughters were born near Sloan; they are: Marjorie Marie Davis, born November 29, 1931 and Joanne Delois Davis, born January 8, 1938.

Marjorie attended Sloan school from the fall of 1937 to the spring of 1942, when she with her parents and sister moved to Omaha. She attended Omaha school two years, then Bellevue School six years, graduating from Bellevue High School in the spring of 1950. She went to college one year in Salt Lake City, then got work as a key-punch operator in Ogden, Utah and went to college there one year. In March 1953, she went into the Air Force and became a computer operator. She was in the Air Force fourteen years, stationed in Germany three years. She now works as a computer programmer for the California State Department. She married Ray Haviland in August 1964. He passed away in June of 1982.

Joanne Delois Davis moved with her parents to Omaha in 1942, went to school one year in Omaha, and six years in Bellevue, Nebraska. She then moved with her parents to Salt Lake City, where she graduated in 1956. She too joined the Air Force after working in Ogden, Utah, one year. She married Donald Coons in 1959. They have five children, four boys and one girl. Two of the boys are in the Navy. Donald was in the Army. The family spent three and a half years in Pakistan and three years in Japan, and lived various places in the State. He retired after twenty years of service and now repairs refrigerators and micro-wave ovens. They live in Gresham, Oregon.
