Charles and Willamina (Block) Bisbee
By Katherine WolpertWillamina Elizabeth Block Bisbee (1911-1958) was the daughter of Nellie Harder and William Carroll Block. She was born in Marshall, Minnesota. She went to country school and boarding school with the Benedictine nuns in Gregory, and the Presentation Sisters in Winner, South Dakota; the Blessed Sacrament Institute and Vincentia Institute High School in Albany, New York. She graduated in 1928 from the Sergeant Bluff High School. She attended Comptometer School and N.B.T. in Sioux City and was hired, in spite of the depression, in the office of Crane Company. Later she worked for Central West Public Service in the new Badegerow Building.
In 1937 at St Boniface Church she married Charles McMaster Bisbee (1919-1970) of Hornick, son of Fordyce Wheeler Bisbee and Beulah McMaster.
They lived in Lawton until fire destroyed the McMaster grain elevator; then they moved to Onawa where Charles managed the I.C. Elevator and alter owned the Gamble Store.
Their children are: Dr Allan Charles of State Line and Lake Tahoe, Nevada; Dr George William, Santa Rose, California; John Alden, Omaha; Mark McMaster, Omaha; Robert Louis, US Navy; and Ruth Ann Parker, Snohomish, Washington.
