Ford L Belfrage
By John BelfrageFord L Belfrage, oldest son of Wilfred and Winnie Woodford Belfrage, was born January 15, 1911, on the family farm south a Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and graduated form Sergeant Bluff High School in 1929. In 1932 he hired out as a section hand for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and in 1936 went into Engine Service as a Fireman.
During the second World War he served in the Air Force three years as Flight Engineer Instructor and Chief Technical Aircraft Inspector. He made a number of flights overseas and was honorable discharged August 13, 1945, at Fort Dix, New Jersey, as a Master Sergeant.
In 1946 he was promoted to Locomotive Engineer for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and was a traveling Engineer from 1950-1955 at Clinton, Iowa. The rest of his service was running locomotives on various trains, mostly between Sioux City, Iowa, and Omaha. He retired in 1975.
He married Marjorie Ann Mossman, February 7, 1940. They have one daughter, Marilyn Ann Belfrage Rawe, born in 1946. Marilyn Ann married Raymond Raw, June 1, 1968, and they have two daughters, Stephanie and Melissa.
For twenty-three years Ford was on the DeMolay Advisory Council and was a member of the Abu-Bekr White Horse Patrol. He is also past President of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Ford and Marjorie Ann Belfrage live in Sioux City, Iowa.
