DEATH’S TOLL.

On Thursday last at St. Mary’s hospital, Chicago, Mrs. O. T. Arneson passed away after a week’s illness from inflammation of the bowels, the immediate cause of death being blood poison. Mrs. Arneson’s maiden name was Inger Tobiason. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tobias Tobiason, pioneer residents of Decorah, and was born January 13, 1855. She grew to womanhood here and became a teacher in the schools of the county. On July 7, 1877, she was married to Ole T. Arneson, also a teacher here, and two years later they moved to Trail Co., N. D., where they occupied a homestead for seven years. They returned to Decorah in 1886 and Mr. Arneson took employment in the office of “Decorah-Poston,” later going to the Lutheran Publishing House where he was engaged for seventeen years. In 1904 they went to Chicago to make their home, Mr. Arneson having secured a place as manager of the book department in the office of “Skandinaven.” Beside her husband Mrs. Arneson is survived by nine children—Theodore of Mitchell, S. D., Clarence, of Alsask, Sask., Henry, Frederick, Robert, Arthur, Joseph, Edward and Alice, of Chicago. She is also survived by three brothers and three sisters—Theodore Tobiason, Remer, Minn., Henry Tobiason, Davenport, Wash., William L. and Mds. Caroline Jurgens, B. O. Marsh and Julia Germo, all of Decorah.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at two o’clock at St. John’s Lutheran church, Chicago, of which Mrs. Arneson was a member.
