Lois Frana, age 86, of Ossian, Iowa, passed away Monday, April 6, 2026, at WinnMed Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 420 E. Main St., Ossian, Iowa 52161, with Rev. Daniel Knipper presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 420 E. Main St., Ossian, Iowa 52161. Rosary will begin at 3:45 p.m. There will be no visitation before the church service on Friday. Please come in and be seated.
Lois was born on February 10, 1940, to Joseph and Leona (Hemesath) Kipp. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, where she remained a devoted lifelong member.
On September 9, 1959, Lois was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jerome Frana. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and community.
Lois was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She worked at Calmar Egg Manufacturing, Brockman’s Grocery, and spent 34 years caring for others at Aase Haugen Nursing Home. Her kindness and strong work ethic touched many lives.
In her free time, Lois enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, and embroidering dresser scarves. She liked playing cards, reading, and traveling with Jerome. She was a passionate and loyal fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Above all, Lois cherished time with her family—especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—and loved attending their sporting events and activities.
Lois is survived by her children: Cindy (Jerry) Remke of Ridgeway, IA; Wanda Valland of Ossian, IA; Kevin (Dori) Frana of Calmar, IA;and Craig (Darlene) Frana of Battle Creek, MI.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jason Remke, Jill Smith, Jamie (Nate) Brummond, Kayla (Ryan) Glasgow, Shelby (Steve) Hageman, Cori (Bryan) Main, Austin Ives, and Brandon (Charlie) Ives; and her great-grandchildren: Kyleigh, Kolton, Jolee, Caleb, Carson, Natalie, Kade, Emersyn, Ella, Alexa, Mya, Maddyn, Londyn, Sadler, and Sutton.
Lois is further survived by her brother, Don (Eileen) Kipp; brother-in-law, Marc Frana; and sisters-in-law, Elaine Kipp and Georgina Frana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Frana; her parents, Joseph and Leona Kipp; her brother, Duane Kipp; her father- and mother-in-law, Adolph and Otilia Frana; her brothers-in-law Leonard, Julius, George (Marie), Adolph (Janice), Stan, Art, and Ermin (Wilma); and her sisters-in-law Martha, Viola, Sonia, and Monica.
Lois will be remembered for her deep faith, her love of family, and the warmth and care she shared with everyone she met.
