Mrs. F. W. Halligan, sister of Otto Solberg is here from Chicago to attend the funeral of Mrs. Solberg’s father E. Whiteman.

Mrs. J. J. Headington arrived yesterday afternoon from Glenside, Saska., Canada called here by the death of her father E. Whiteman.

OBITIUARY.
Elijah Whiteman died on Saturday last, February 24, aged eighty two years, seven months and twenty three days, death being due to infirmities of old age. Mr. Whiteman was born in Norwich, Conn., July 1, 1834. In 1858 he came west and located in Houston county, Minn., where in 1864 he was married to Jane Adams, who survives him. Of three daughters born to them, two are living. Mrs. J. J. Headington of Glenside, Sask, Canada, and Mrs. Otto Solberg of Decorah. Mrs. C. O. Ingvolstad of Colorado Springs died several years ago. He became a resident of Winneshiek county in 1873, part of the time engaged in farming but largely in other occupations.
His funeral will be held this afternoon, Rev. Fred Ingvolstad of Carroll, Iowa, grandson of the deceased officiated. Interment was made at Phelps cemetery.
