Obituary:-- Andrew Bernard Herold passed to his eternal reward on Friday, Feb. 2, 1917, at his home south of town. Death was due to a complication of diseases. He was born March 28, 1849, at Buffalo, New York, and in 1854 came to Winneshiek county and lived on the place all his life where he passed away. In 1875, on May 25th, he was united in marriage to Miss Anastasie Boushka at Spillville, Iowa. To them were born eleven children:-- Frances, Mrs. George Reihle of Lawler, Mary, Mrs. J. S. Holland, of Decorah, Regina, Mrs. W. D. Myers of Hickory, N. C., and Martin, Paul, Leo, Ida and Celia who are at home. The funeral occurred Wednesday, Feb. 7th, at 10:30 a. m. at St. Clement’s church, Rev. Broz performing the obsequies. The pall bearers were Thos. Barloon, Jos. Zbornik, G. F. Heuser, Henry Krumm, Henry Reihle and Fran C. Smith Besides his wife and children Mr. Herold leaves to mourn his loss his brothers and sisters—Kate, Mrs. Jake Gestern of Fertile, Minn., Elizabeth, Mrs. Lewis Bechel of Austin, Minn., Minnie, Mrs. Jake Mueller of Plover, Iowa, John of Lakota, N. D., George of Walnut Grove, Minn., Fred of Oelwein. Clarence of Spillville and brother Joseph who preceded him in death last June. The funeral was largely attended. Those from a distance who were present at the funeral were Mr. Young of Marshalltown, Mrs. Maas of Waucoma, Mr. Kupka of Jackson Junction, Mr. and Mrs. John Boushka of near Little Turkey, Jos. Boushka of Protivin, Theodore Boushka of near Jackson Junction, Mr. Ludwig and son and Clement Studer and brother of St. Benedict, Iowa, and Jos. Holland of Decorah.
