OBITUARY
Bateman.
William Bateman was born in Elgin, Ill., in 1847 and died quite suddenly at Mrs. Light’s on Wednesday Nov. 17th, 1920 thus being about 83 years of age. He came with his parents to Iowa in 1856 and lived for a long while on a farm in Albion twp., moving to Cresco in 1908. Mr. Bateman was married in 1870 to Sarah Light. To this union there were born five sons as follows: William Lionel of Cresco, Alvah Archibal of Minneapolis, John Thoams of Heraldsburg, California, Elmer Elbert of this city, and George Walter of St. Paul who were all in attendance at the funeral except John Thomas of California.
Mrs. Bateman, the mother, died in 1909.
He has also one brother who lives in Minneapolis and he has ten grandchildren.
Mr. Bateman was a member of the M. E. church of this city.
The funeral was held Saturday at the M. E church, Rev. C. L. Nye officiating. Burial was at Kendallville.
