D. F. Kittinger was born in Erie Co., New York October 13, 1832, died December 25, 1915. Came to Iowa in 1859. Married Rabecca Holcomb{sic} in 1860. Born to this union five children, Joseph, who died in infancy, Mrs. James Hunter of Bruce, Wis., J. N. Topliff, also of Bruce, Wis., Myrtle M. Musser, deceased, March 31, 1904 and F. H. Kittinger of Hicks, Iowa. The deceased passed away at the home of his son at Hicks, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Kittinger left Castalia for Des Moines in 1902 to make their home, where Mrs. Kittinger died some years later. After 1910 deceased made his home with his son. The body was brought here Monday and the funeral occurred at the U. B. church, the Rev. Hursh officiating. The body was interred in the Pleasant View cemetery. The immediate relatives who came to attend the funeral were Mrs. James Hunter and Mrs. and Mrs. J. N. Topliff of Bruce, Wis. And Fred Kittinger and son Frankie of Hicks. During Mr. Kittinger’s long residence here he was held in high esteem by all who knew him, and a large circle of friends here extend their sympathy to the bereaved family.
