A. A. Darling Passed Away Tuesday Morning
Albert A. Darling, one of Decorah's well known and esteemed citizens passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 6 at his home on Maple Ave. after a two weeks' illness.
Albert. A. Darling was born at Mantorville, Minn. May 23, 1857, a son of David and Louisa Darling.
He was married in 1882 at Hesper, Iowa, to Jennie E. Antrim, who with two daughters and three sons survive him. They are Mrs. Wm. Jansen of Decorah, Mrs. R. D. Shultz of Fort Worth, Texas, Derwood and Roy L. Darling of Decorah amd Ray Darling of La Crescent, Minn. Two sisters and one brother also survive. They are: Mrs. Geo. White of Mabel, Minn., Mrs. Ernest Oxley of Decorah and Wm. Darling of Prosper, Minn.
Mr. Darling was a very successful farmer and had acquired considerable land in several states. From 1883 until 1914 he farmed near Montrose,S. D., retiring in the latter year when he and his family moved to Decorah where the family home has since been.
The deceased was a highly esteemed citizen, a gentleman of high personal worth, progressive, able and upright citizen and the place he held in the respect and esteem of his neighibors was worthily won by by many years of honorable and straightforward dealings.
Funeral services will be conducted from the home this Wednesday aternoon with Dr. J. P. Burling of the Congregational church officiating.
The remains will be taken to his old home at Montrose, S. D. where burial will be Friday.
To the bereaved ones left to mourn the passing of this beloved man the sincere sympathy of many friends is extended.
