GORED BY A BULL.
Charles G. Lundby, Aged Lincoln Resident, Dies from Injuries Sustained Monday Afternoon.
Charles G. Lundby, an old and well known resident of Lincoln township, was gored by an infuriated bull just after dinner on Monday afternoon and died two hours later at the Cresco hospital, where he was taken in hopes that his life might be saved. The bull was kept in a pasture some distance from the house and during the noon hour it broke out and came to a lot near by. After dinner Mr. Lundby saw the animal and, not thinking that it might be dangerous, went to drive it back to its inclosure. He had no sooner entered the lot than the animal charged upon him, throwing him in the air ten or twelve feet, and when he fell to the ground charged him again and again and trampled upon him. Members of Mr. Lundby’s family rushed to his rescue and with the help of passers-by corralled the animal and confined him. An auto was secured and Mr. Lundby taken to Cresco where it was found that several ribs had been broken and he had sustained other internal injuries. The bull had been dehorned, otherwise Mr. Lundby would undoubtedly have been badly mutilated.

Charles G. Lundby was born in Brandvold, Saaler, Norway, on October 16, 1839, and at the time of his death was aged 75 years, 10 months and 16 days. He is survived by his wife and five children—Ella and Gilbert at home, Mrs. Carl Magnus and Elling also in Lincoln township, and his daughter Mrs. Thos. Humphrey of Hesper. Two children died in infancy. The funeral service will be held this afternoon at one o’clock at the home one mile north of Ridgeway, and from there to the Madison church where interment will take place, Rev. D. C. Jordahl officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in Madison Lutheran Cemetery shows his name as Karelius G. Lundby. It shows he died Aug. 30, 1915.
