MICHAEL HOLVERSON KILLED.
Thrown from Wagon When Team Runs Away and Dies Two Hours Later.
The first ward was the scene of a fatal accident Tuesday morning when Michael Holverson was thrown from his wagon and injured so seriously that death resulted about two hours later. Mr. Halverson had hitched his team and started out with the intention of going to his farm. When near the north side of the A. Bernatz property the horses became frightened by the breaking of the tongue of the wagon and started to run, throwing Mr. Halverson from the wagon. J. P. Burns came along just after the accident occurred and took Mr. Halverson to his home. Doctors were summoned and after an examination failed to find evidence of any serious injury, hence it is thought that death resulted from the bursting of blood vessels in the head.
Mr. Halverson was a highly respected citizen, having moved to Decorah about thirteen years ago. Previous to that time he resided in Hanover township, Allamakee county. He was in his sixty-first year and is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter. In their bereavement the family have the sympathy of the community. The funeral will be held to-morrow at the Big Canoe church, Rev. J. B. Torrison officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows his name as Mikkel Halverson. He was born Apr. 10, 1855 and died Aug. 17, 1915. He is buried in the Big Canoe Lutheran Cemetery.
