Sherry Henry, age 67 of Cresco, IA, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Regional Health Systems in Cresco, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Helms Funeral Homes 306 E. Water Street, Decorah, IA, with Father Donald Hertges presiding. Burial will be at the St. Benedict Cemetery following the service. Everyone is invited to stay for lunch and visit with the family downstairs.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the Helms Funeral Home in Decorah, IA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.
Sherry Lee (Mincks) Henry was born September 14, 1957, in Decorah, Iowa. The daughter of Allyn J and Gladys (Cronin) Mincks. She came from a big family of 10 children, to which she had a twin sister, Terry.. Her mother called the twins, the Dollies. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1976.
Sherry married Gary Henry, and from that marriage, they raised 2 children, Jamie and John.
When grandchildren came along, they were her everything.
Sherry and Gary divorced, but later, they lived back together.
Sherry was diagnosed with "rheumatoid arthritis", which eventually took over her life.
The Dollies always did things together. They played bingo, wahoo marbles, and loved to do karaoke and sing country music. They were quite a comedy team when they got on a roll. They enjoyed making people laugh.
The twins also had the name, "the Travelers." They were always on a Walmart run.
Sherry made a mean lemon pie, homemade pizza, and her famous green bean casserole for family gatherings.
Sherry loved it when the grandchildren came over to play at the house.
Her long-time companion, Gary Henry, was her caregiver for many years but eventually went to a nursing home.
Sherry is survived by her partner, Gary Henry, two sons, Jamie (Tammy) Mincks and children, Jamie Maly, Kyle Guess, Kaylin Miller, Dalton Mincks, Casandra Witt, Merry Witt and Stacy Witt. John Henry and his sons, Jaxsyn and Jett Henry. Siblings; Ellyn (James) Diederich, Mary (Steven) Holkesvik, Sandra (Steven) Reicks, Wendy (Larry) Henry, Terry Mincks (twin), Brenda (Randy) Henry, Joseph (friend Virginia Vasquez) Mincks, Robert (Pam) Mincks and many Aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, Allyn J Mincks and Gladys F Mincks. One brother, Allyn F Mincks, nephew, Dustyn Henry and many aunts and uncles.
The family wants to thank Evans Senior Living, Regional Services of Howard County, Helms Funeral Homes, and Father Hertges, from St Benedict`s Catholic Parish, for the care given to Sherry Henry.
