Death Christina Peterson
Mrs. Christina Peterson passed away at her home in West Decorah Saturday, April 12th, after a ten weeks' illness.
Christina Erickson was born in Stange, Norway, Jan. 14, 1846. She grew to young womanhood there where she received her education. She was married in Norway to Ole Peterson on Jan. 20, 1868. They came to America June 17, 1871, accompanied by two of their children, born in Norway. They settled on a farm near Freeport, where they resided a number of years, coming to Decorah to make their home 20 years ago. Ten children were born to the union, three of whom passed away. A son and seven daughters survive.
The deceased enjoyed the friendship and esteem of many friends during her long residence here. She was a good wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her children and friends, and the sympathy of all is extended to the bereaved ones.
The funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist church. Rev. O. Sandbach officiated and interment was in Phelps cemetery. Six grandsons acted as pallbearers.
