Lynne Seabrooke age 64 of Calmar, IA passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at her home in Calmar after battling cancer.

A celebration of life will be held for Lynne on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the South Winn Golf & Country Club, 2585 175th St., Calmar, IA 52132 from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m.

A private family graveside service will be held for her in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery.

Lynne Ann Landt was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on December 1, 1959. She passed away in the arms of her best friend on November 27, 2024, in Calmar, IA, from ovarian cancer on the anniversary of the day they met. Lynne was adopted at age three with her brother Paul into the loving family of Helmuth and Idella Landt of rural Luana, IA. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at St. John Lutheran in Luana. Lynne was involved in 4-H, sports, farming, music, and church activities in her youth. She graduated from MFL in Monona, IA, where she excelled in athletics and music. She attended UNI briefly and then left to pursue marriage and farming. They had four children, who were the driving force of her life. During her marriage and motherhood, Lynne obtained her Bachelor of Science at UIU and played softball, volleyball, and basketball, graduating in 1992. She held various jobs over the years while keeping busy with her childrens' activities and community events.

Lynne fought many battles but did not give up and never lost faith in God. Even in her struggle with cancer, she never wanted to burden anyone else. Although Lynne and her other brothers were separated at adoption, they were able to be reunited in the 1980s and made many memories together with their families. She was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeye, men’s and women’s basketball, football, and sports fan, and later in life, a Nascar fan. One of her favorite pastimes in recent years was watching or listening to games for "their" teams and making fun bets on Nascar races with Pete. She loved to watch sports of all kinds, especially if her children or grandchildren were involved.

Left behind to uphold Lynne's memory are her best friend and life teammate “Pete” Weiand; her four children Alan (Ashley) Seabrooke, Andy (Kendra) Seabrooke, Kari Seabrooke, and Paul (Kelsey) Seabrooke; her six grandchildren Ayden and Braxton Seabrooke (Alan), Quinn and Sullivan Sass (Kari), and Adley and Kade Seabrooke (Paul); brothers Steve (Debbie) Bredow, Craig Carmichael, and Ritch (Renee) Carmichael; as well as other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helmuth and Idella (Looby) Landt; a brother, Paul Landt; and other family and friends.
