John W. Holmes of Paducah, Ky., fell from the second story of the Frankfort water company’s pump house to the basement, 150 feet, about 2:30 o’clock on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 10th, and died at 6 o’clock that evening without recovering consciousness. He alighted on a solid rock floor and sustained an extended fracture of the base of the skull, producing hemorrhage of the brain besides this and numerous contusions, his right leg was broken in two places below the knee, He had been called to Frankfort to give expert advise in regard to the installation of a new pump. Mr. Holmes was chief engineer of the Paducah water company’s plant, and his wife was formerly Edna Battey of this place.
Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Feb. 7, 1854 and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Puducah, KY.
