Death of J. T. Humphrey.
From A. E. Thune, who was in the city yesterday, we learn that J. T. Humphrey, the well known farmer living about a mile and one-half from Hesper, died Tuesday morning from heart disease and hardening of the arteries. James Humphrey, an old and respected resident of Hesper township for the past forty years, died at his home three miles west of Hesper, Tuesday, Sept. 15, after several weeks’ illness. James Thomas Humphrey was born in Parish of Nigg Ross Shire, Scotland, March 19, 1843, and came to this country in 1872, soon after settling on a farm west of Hesper which has since been his home. On Sept.1 5, 1876, he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Wold. Beside his wife Mr. Humphrey is survived by a family of five children. William of Everett, Wash., Mrs. Chas. Mitchell of Mabel, Thomas and John of Hesper and Miss Victoria at home. Funeral services were held Friday from the home at 12:30 and from the Hesper Lutheran church at 2:30, Rev. Rasmussen officiating, and interment made in the Hesper cemetery. –Mabel Record.
