Died From Diphtheria.
Word came to Decorah relatives Saturday evening that the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Goddard of Bowie, Texas, had died that day from diphtheria, after an illness of three weeks. When the child first became ill the ailment seemed to be obscure and the attending physician was unable to make a satisfactory diagnosis. Later he took the boy to a hospital where diphtheria finally developed. Everything possible was done and about an hour before the death message was received a telegram came to Norman Willett stating that signs of improvement were manifest. The news of death came as a shock to relatives and friends alike. In their bereavement much sympathy goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Goddard.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Herbert Jr. who was born Feb. 21, 1912 and died July 25, 1914. He is buried in the Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie, TX.
