Death Claims John Jackson’s Father
Mr. John Jackson, who has been a guest at the home of his son John K. Jackson since the first of the month died yesterday morning after a short illness, death being due to a sudden break down and the infirmity of old age. Although he was in his seventy-ninth year when he came to Decorah he appeared to be unusually well preserved and enjoying good health. Because of this fact the news of his death came as a surprise to all save the few who were aware of his illness. Mr. Jackson was a resident of Ionia, Mich., where he established his home as a pioneer more than fifty years ago. There were present at his bedside when the Silent Messenger claimed him, the members of his son’s household, his son George Jackson of Detroit, his son-in-law and daughters Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Williston and Mrs. A. P. Flickenstein, of Ionia. The remains were taken to Ionia for burial, Rev. M. Willett conducting a prayer service at the home last evening.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows John K. Jackson’s father was George Jackson who was born Feb. 29, 1836 and died July 22, 1914. He is buried in Highland Park Cemetery in Ionia, MI. It also shows the daughter’s name spelled Fleckenstein
