On Friday evening death came to release the painful existence of Ole Garden at the advanced age of 78 years. He became ill about a year ago, but the last few months up to his death he was subject to sufferings almost unbearable, due to a cancerous tumor of the stomach. That he was a well beloved father, a kind neighbor and friend and a loyal citizen is apparent to all who had the opportunity to associate with him and could appreciate his merits. Here death ended a noble career. Beyond awaits the crown. Funeral services occur to-day (Tuesday) Rev. O. E. Schmidt of Decorah officiating with interment at the Springfield cemetery.
