OBITUARY.
George M. Kuhn was born October{?} 29, 1834, in Bavaria, Europe. He came to Winneshiek County in 1860, settling on a farm south of town. In 1866, he was united in marriage to Josephine Novotny. To this union five children were born: Joseph P., Ft. Atkinson, Mrs. Mary Wagner, who preceded her father in death twelve years ago, Anton of Ft. Atkinson, Josephine, the wife of Matt. Ludwig, Elma, and George who is living on his father’s homestead.
Mr. Kuhn was one of our early settlers and shared the trials and tribulations of pioneer life. He was a man of strong and sturdy character, devoted to his family and faithful to his church. On May 21st, he became suddenly ill and passed away at 4:30 p. m, May 22, 1918. He leaves to mourn his departute{sic}, his aged wife and one daughter, also several grandchildren.
The funeral services were held Saturday, May 25th, at 10 o’clock, at St. Clement’s Church, Rev. J. P. Broz officiating. Interment was made in St. Clement’s Cemetery. Those who bore him to his final resting place were six of his grandchildren, namely: Alois M. Kuhn, Wm. J. Kuhn, Andrew Kuhn, Ed. Kuhn, Matt. Ludwig and Alois Wagner. May the Lord reward him for a life well spent.
Weep not that his toils are over,
Weep not that his race is run,
God grant that we may rest as calmly
When our work, like his, is done.
‘Till then, we yield with gladness,
Our Father to Him to keep,
And rejoice in the sweet assurance,
“He giveth His loved one sleep.”
CARD OF THANKS.
We wish to thank our friends and neighbors for their kindness and assistance extended to us during our recent bereavement, the death of our beloved husband and father. We also thank for the floral offerings
