Rick Nesvik, age 65, of Ossian, IA, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse, WI.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the Ossian Lutheran Church, 305 Jessie Street, Ossian, IA, with Rev. Daryl Schultz presiding.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the Ossian Lutheran Church, 305 Jessie Street, Ossian, IA, and also after 10:00 a.m., Wednesday morning at the church.

Rick Nesvik was born on April 7, 1958, the first son of Harlan and Marlene (Martens) Nesvik. He was raised on a farm outside of Ossian. He attended South Winneshiek schools and graduated in 1976. Following graduation, his father suddenly passed away. Rick helped his mother with taking over the dairy and hog operation and raising his younger siblings.

Rick was a hard worker that found enjoyment working alongside his children and grandchildren. Between the farm operation and his construction business, he was always busy and wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. He led by example. His skills, dedication, work ethic and immense love for animals will live on through his family. Rick was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

Rick is survived by his wife, Marcia. Children: Steve (Amanda) Nesvik, Calmar, IA; Derek (Michelle) Nesvik, Ossian, IA; Deborah (Marc) Waterlander, New Hampton, IA; Sandy (Matthew) Havel, Ossian, IA; Savannah Nesvik, Madison, WI, along with 9 grandchildren. Brothers: Randy (Joyce) Nesvik, Ossian, IA, Ronald (Donna) Nesvik, Ossian, IA, and Russ Nesvik, Clinton, IA. Mother-in-law: Rosalin Ondrashek, As well as his Aunts: Joan (Martens) Kleppe, Lost Nation, IA, and Linda McCain, Cedar Rapids, IA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Marlene Nesvik. His uncles: Denny Kleppe, Lost Nation, IA, Nyle Nesvik, Monona, IA, Donald (Connie) Martens, Rock Island, Ill. Father-in-law: Lawrence Ondrashek. Brother-in-law: Kevin Ondrashek.

May Rick rest in peace and feel the savior of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
