OBITUARY.
Mrs. Bertha A. Nelson, wife of Andrew A. Nelson of Hesper township, died Tuesday afternoon, June 10th, 1913, from dropsy and heart failure. Mrs. Nelson has been ailing for many years and about three weeks ago came to Decorah to stay with her son Jacob A. Nelson, to visit and seek medical aid. She was feeling somewhat better than usual Tuesday, but during the latter part of the afternoon, after lying down to rest, lapsed into unconsciousness from which she did not recover.
Mrs. Nelson’s maiden name was Bertha Jacobson. She was born May 23rd, 1863, in Voss, Norway, and came to America with her parents in 1868. She was married on April 9th, 1885, and is survived by her mother, who is ninety-four years old, one brother, her husband, four sons and two daughters. The children are Jacob A., of Decorah, Martin A., of Spring Valley, Minn., Nels, Carl, Gurina and Mary at home. The funeral will be held from the home Friday afternoon at one o’clock and services will be held in the Lutheran church in Hesper, Rev. Rasmussen of Mabel officiating.
