OBITUARY.
Lorentz H. Rygg died Saturday morning at his home in the third ward after a lingering illness from stomach trouble. Mr. Rygg was born in Froston, Throndhjem, Norway, December 29, 1831. He was married to Miss Anne Silvertsen in 1854 and came to America in 1870 settling first at Hesper, this county, later moving to Cresco, where he built a home and brought his family from Norway. Again he moved to Fillmore county, Minn., where he worked at his trade as stone mason, also running a farm. In 1890 he moved to Decorah and purchased the home where he died. Mr. Rygg has been an active member of the United Lutheran church and was for years a member of the church council. He leaves to mourn his loss his aged widow, four sons and two daughters, namely, Hans, John, Andreas, Johannea, Mrs. C. Clausen and Mrs. Tollef Tvenge, (all living in Decorah excepting Andreas), twenty grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock at the United Lutheran church, burial being made in the Norwegian cemetery. Rev. Schmidt officiated.
