Items Taken from the “Republic” Under Date of July 19, 1862.
Word is received that Lieut. Nickerson died at Montgomery, Ala., May 31. He went out of Decorah as second lieutenant under Capt. Tupper and upon the death of the captain was promoted to first lieutenant.
