Mary Ann Blong, age 91, of Fort Atkinson, IA passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Ossian Senior Hospice, Ossian, Iowa.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 201 Oak St, Fort Atkinson, Iowa, with Rev. Nick Radloff presiding. Burial will be in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the church on Friday morning.

Mary Ann (Pavlovec) Blong was born on August 17, 1932, the daughter of James and Mary (Riha) Pavlovec in Fort Atkinson, Iowa.

Mary Ann married Charles Blong on May 4th, 1953, at St. John’s Church in Fort Atkinson, IA. She was a lifelong parishioner at St. John’s Church. She was a member of Huber-Steffes American Legion Auxiliary in Fort Atkinson. She enjoyed gardening, yardwork, and her daytime soap operas.

Mary Ann is survived by her two sons Charles (Nancy) Blong of Rapid City, SD, and James (Eileen) Blong of Calmar, IA. Two brothers; Art (Bernice) Pavlovec of Fort Atkinson, IA, and Paul (Jenny) Pavlovec of Decorah, IA. One sister Rita Holthaus. Two Sisters-in-law Grace Pavlovec and Ruth Pavlovec, both of Fort Atkinson, IA. Three grandchildren; April Blong of Decorah, IA, Matthew Turner of Decorah, IA, and Stephanie Koenig of Prairie Du Chein, WI. One great-grandchild Naya Shimek, along with many nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents James and Mary (Riha) Pavlovec, brothers Victor, Daniel, George, and Clarence Pavlovec. Brothers-in-law; Joe Holthaus and Mark Blong. Sisters-in-law; Pat Pavlovec and Margret Schmitt. One grandchild Nathan Turner.
