Karen Jean Wagner, 68 of Ossian, Iowa passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner, Iowa. Karen was born April 17, 1955 to Adam and Genevieve (Boron) Olszewski in Mosinee, Wisconsin. She graduated from high school and attended two years of college.

On October 3, 1993 Karen was united in marriage with Walter Wagner. Karen worked at 3-M in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin throughout the years. She enjoyed attending Mass on a regular basis, reading, knitting, crocheting, playing bingo, bird watching and cooking. Karen collected polar bears and christmas memorabilia. Her greatest love was spending time with her daughter and grandchildren.

Surviving Karen are her daughter, Heather Bettmeng of Ossian, Iowa; two grandchildren, Paige and Marcus Bettmeng; sister, Julieanne (Lorne) Lemke of Mosinee, Wisconsin; brother, Jim “Radar” (Michelle) Olszewski of Mosinee, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Peter Dehne and many nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Wagner on December 24, 2017; sister, Cheryl Dehne; brother, Bob Olszewski; and her parents, Adam and Genevieve Olszewski.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Ossian, Iowa. There will be a one hour visitation before services at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Inurnment will follow at Frankville Cemetery, Frankville, Iowa.

Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Ossian, Iowa is assisting the family with services.
