Helmer P. Johnson Dead.
Helmer P. Johnson died at his home in Decorah Monday evening of acute appendicitis. He was born in Norway August 7, 1862, and came to this country when he was 19 years of age, arriving in Decorah after a short residence in Cresco. Mr. Johnson and Gertrude Eide were married December 26, 1885. To them four children were born, all of whom with the mother survive him. The death of Mr. Johnson was unexpected and he was sick scarecely{sic} a week. He was a quiet, unassuming man, highly respected by all and for a number of years conducted a pantorium on Washington St. The funeral services were held to-day from the house and the United Lutheran church, Rev. O. E. Schmidt officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born July 2, 1862 and died Aug. 10, 1911 which does not agree with the above. (Monday would have been Aug. 7, 1911.) He is buried in the Lutheran Decorah Cemetery.
