Colleen Hageman age 83 of Decorah, IA passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 304 South Maryville Street, Calmar, IA, with Rev. Henry Huber presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at the Helms Funeral Home, French Chapel, 202 South Washington St., in Calmar, IA and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Church on Wednesday morning.

Colleen was born on October 9, 1939, the daughter of Roman & Gladys Wagner in Spillville Iowa. She attended Catholic School at St Wenceslaus in Spillville IA, and then graduated from Calmar High in Calmar IA. She played basketball in High School and Softball in a Women’s League in Ossian. She enjoyed working at the Bily Clocks and Spillville Bank in Spillville IA until she was married. Colleen was united in marriage to Paul Hageman on October 9, 1959. To this union five children were born, and they raised their family east of Calmar on the Hageman Family Farm. Colleen moved to Ossian Senior Hospice in September of 2022, and then moved to Assisted Living at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah IA in November of 2022.

Colleen was a devoted farm wife and helped Paul to raise hogs, beef cattle, and crops. She was very fond of her cats, a large garden, and beautiful flowers. She loved birds and was especially fond of Cardinals. Colleen was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and would seldom miss watching a game. She loved to attend sporting events at South Winneshiek, and even had a reserved spot at the football field for Friday nights. She was a devoted member of St Aloysius Catholic Church, Rosary Society, and American Legion Auxiliary. Paul and Colleen enjoyed helping at the Greenhouse in Decorah to deliver flowers for Jim and Linda Lukes. Colleen’s grandchildren remember her famous Ham Balls, Dressing, Dumplings and always having Twix bars for them. She saved every article and picture that was in the paper of her grandchildren and kept a book for them until they graduated.

Colleen is survived by her husband Paul, and four children Ann Marie (Ken) Kirkestue, Monona IA, Anna Mae (Dave) Smith, Monona IA, Scott Hageman, Monona IA, Joel (Kendra) Hageman, Lanesboro MN. Twelve grandchildren: Kyle (Vicky) Kirkestue, West Union IA, Sara (Jim) Bovia, Pickney MI, Shannon Kirkestue, Channahon IL, Ashley Smith, Coralville IA, Melissa Hageman, Luana IA, Morgan Hageman, Cedar Rapids IA, Ambur Hageman (Drew Peterson) Marion IA, Cody (Michala) Hageman, Yuma AZ, Macauley (Sara) Hageman, Ossian IA, Blake Hageman, Rochester MN, Elizabeth Hageman, Lanesboro MN. Four great grandchildren, Bryce Kirkestue, Chole Bovia, Tatum Hageman, and Baby Hageman due in November. Special family friend Noreen Hageman, Luana IA. Nephews Justin (Melissa) Wagner, Marion IA, Jordan (Laura) Wagner, Des Moines IA.

Colleen is preceeded in death by Roman and Gladys Wagner, Joseph and Elizabeth Hageman, Brother Keith Wagner, Son Kevin Hageman, Grandson Scott Hageman, Jr. (infancy), Granddaughter Tami Hageman, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
