John Hardy died at the home of Eugene Burns last Thursday. The funeral occurred from the Centennial church Sunday, April 23. Mrs. Carrie Munson and Grant and Nellie Vance came up from Waterloo to attend thef unral.{sic} We have no obituary.

John Hardy was born Aug. 16, 1839, at Uniontown, Fayette county, Penn. When a child he moved to Ohio with his parents, where they resided for a short time, and in the spring of 1855 they came to Winneshiek county, Iowa, where they settled on the farm, which has since been his home. He was one of a family of two sons and seven daughters, of whom Mrs. Handcock of Madrid, Iowa isnow{sic} the only surviving member. Several weeks ago he was taken ill and went to the home of his nephew Gene Burns, where he passed away Thursday, April 20, of dropsy and heart disease. He was a man highly respected and well liked by all who knew him and his death removes a good citizen from the community. The funeral services were held at the Centennial church Sunday morning at 11 o’clock, conducted by Mr. Kranert of McGregor, a Christian Science reader. Interment was made Iin the cemetery by the side of his sister.
