Items Taken from the Republican Under Date of April 22, 1886.

Dr. Willard F. Coleman died yesterday, the 21st, aged 61 years. He was one of the pioneer citizens and the first mayor of Decorah. At all times he was interested and influential in municipal affairs. In 1862 he entered the army and became assistant surgeon to the 17th Iowa Infantry. He was highly respected and beloved by all.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows his gravestone in Phelps Cemetery and indicates he died April 25, 1886 which does not agree with the above.
