James Houdek came down from Austin to be in attendance at his father’s funeral.

Henry Houdek was called to Taopi, Minn., Wednesday, by the sudden death of his father.

Mrs. James Krall and children arrived here from Tyndal, S. D., last week, to attend the funeral of Mrs. K’s father, Wenzel Houdek.

On January 3, 1911, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. T. Norton in Taopi, Minn., occurred the death of Wenzel Houdek, aged 72 year, 7 months and 17 days. The cause of death was hemorrhage of the lungs. Mr. Houdek was born July 20, 1837, in Paseka, Bohemia. He came to America in 1852, settling in Pittsburg, Pa., where he lived until 1854, when he came to Winneshiek county, Io9wa, where he lived until December 7 last, when he moved to Taopi. He was married on June 6, 1877, at Spillville to Lizzie Sobolik. Six children were born to this union, five of whom survive. They are Mrs. J. J. Krall of Tyndall, S. D., Henry and Miss{?} Joseph Bakula of Fort Atkinson, Mrs. E. T. Norton, of Taopi and James of Austin. He is also survived by his wife The funeral was held on January 6 at Fort Atkinson, Rev. Marshalek, officiating. His widow and children mourn him as a kind and loving husband and father and in their bereavement have the sympathy of many friends. The pall bearers who carried him to his last resting place were M. A. Kubish, John Wandas, Anton Sabelka, Joseph Necas, John Doubek and John Svatous.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows his name as Vaclav. He was born July 20, 1837 and died Jan. 3, 1911. He is buried in in St. John’s Cemetery.
