OBITUARY.
After an illness of several months, due to the infirmities of old age, Mrs. Juul Qualley died last week Wednesday night, October 29{sic}, at the farm home in the south part of Decorah township.
Mrs. Qualley’s maiden name was Gro Egge. She was born November 7,{?} 1833, at Vestre Slidre, Valders, Norway, and came to America in 1857, arriving on June 24. On May 8, 186{?}, she was married to Juul T. Qualley, Rev. V. Koren officiating, and for more than fifty years she and her husband have lived on the farm where she died. Seven children were born to them, of whom five survive, Mrs. N. E. Ramsey and Thomas J. Qualley of Decorah, Rev. L. J. Kvale of {?}rfordsville, Wis., Paul Qualley of Ridgeway and Olaf Qualley of Mahnomen. The funeral was held Sunday last at the Washington Prairie church, Rev. Paul Koren officiating, and all the living children were present to pay a final tribute to one who has been indeed a mother in all that that word means, as well as to comfort their father in his bereavement. A large gathering of friends and neighbors were in attendance and by their presence testified to the high esteem in which Mrs. Qualley was held. Her final illness dated from last spring and for three months she was unable to leave her bed, but during the weary days she made no complaint but waited patiently for the end that both she and her family knew was not far distant.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows her name spelled Qvale. She is buried in the Washington Prairie Lutheran Cemetery. Her husband’s name is spelled Jule. Her gravestone shows she was born Nov. 6, 1833 and died Oct. 19, 1910.
