Patricia “Pat” Pavlovec, age 85, of Decorah, IA, died on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah, IA.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the Lingonberry Event Venue, 218 W. Water St., Decorah. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the service following at 11:00 a.m.

Patricia Joann (Halverson) Pavlovec was born June 17, 1937, the daughter of Wallace and Palma (Blekeberg) Halverson. She attended Decorah Schools, graduating in 1955. She married George Pavlovec on January 12, 1957, and to this union two children were born: Mark and Laurie.

Pat was a homemaker until the kids graduated from High School. She was a great cook and baker. Every summer Pat and George would enjoy making Krumkake. Well.. You know the results, a Norwegian and Bohemian in the kitchen together.. perfect Krumkake!

She worked at Spectrum Industries for twenty-five years and was a member of the First Lutheran Church. Pat was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Days of our lives, Oil of “Old Lady” (Olay), having her hair done every Friday at 8 a.m., (Thank you Steve & Becky), Friday nights out with the girls, The White Sidewalls, The Platters concerts, dancing, playing cards, talking on the phone and the annual summer trip to Harpers Ferry with the River Rats: Pat, Helen, Myrt, Bev, Phyllis and Lois.

She was a wonderful mom, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin and friend and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son Mark (friend, Tammy) Pavlovec, Buford, GA. Daughter: Laurie (Dan) Pavlovec Hageman, Waucoma, IA. Grandchildren: Jayme Kimber, Kasey (Quentin) Alexander, Justine Pavlovec and Tracy (Chris) Perez. Great grandchildren: Ethan and Eliana Perez, Hal Kimber, Ryker Hageman, Lyric Pavlovec, Faith Roffey along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband George on February 3, 2019. Parents: Wallace and Palma Halverson. Sisters: Helen (Lloyd) Sersland and Franny Fjelstul. Brother: Wes Halverson. Father and mother-in-law: James and MaryAnn Pavlovec. Brothers-in-law: Danny, Victor, Bobby and Jimmy Pavlovec; Charles Blong and Joe Holthaus. Daugher-in-law: Pam Pavlovec. Nephews: Les Fjelstul, Larry Fjelstul and Dennis “Jiggs” Sersland.

The family would like to thank the Aase Haugen staff and Winneshiek County Hospice where Pat lived the last 2 ½ years. Their compassion and support for Pat will always be remembered. A very special thank you to Brenda for her support for Pat and Laurie.

“Mom, if we could give you one thing in life, it would be the ability to see yourself through our eyes, only then would you realize how very special you are”. Mark and Laurie.
