Louise Heuser died April 26, 1910, after a few weeks’ painful illness, at the age of 15 years. The funeral was held on Friday, April 29th. Rev. Broz, assisted by Rev. Lakomy of Protivin, conducted the services at the house, after which they departed for the church followed by the young ladies of the Holy Rosary Society and by the school children from both the Catholic and Public schools, where requiem high mass was said, followed by three touching sermons, Bohemian and English by Father Broz and German by Father Lakomy. Lulu was a quiet and loving girl and the love and esteem she was held in was shown by the many and beautiful floral pieces and the large crowd of mourners. The interment was made at the St. Wenceslaus cemetery adjoining the church. The pall bearers were Jos. A. Soukup, Wm. Kovarik, Jas. Shevik, Wm. Smith, Andrew Smith and Fred Fisher. Those from away to attend the funeral were Dr. and Mrs. Hutchinson and Miss Hazel Peeper of Elgin, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Hegge of Deerfield, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Math Graff of Calmar, Mrs. Schuler of Chicago, Mrs. Elbling of McGregor, Mr. and Mrs. G. Heuser of Decorah, Miss Celia Kapinos, Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Meyer, Sever Severson, Edith Jacobson, Emma Olson, Mary and Barbara Kalec, Mrs. Grundeland, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Winn, Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Ode, Regina Swehla, of Calmar, and others whose names we failed to learn.
Card of Thanks—We take this method of expressing our sincere and heartfelt thanks to our friends who showed so many kindnesses during the illness and death of our beloved daughter and sister, Lulu. Also for the sympathy and respect so impressively shown during the last rites while taken to her final resting place. While it cannot lessen the burden of our great loss, we feel it adds strength in bearing the weight resting on our heads.—G. F. Hauser, Oscar Heuser, Spillville, Iowa. May 2, 1910.

Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery shows her name as Beatrice Louise. She was born Dec. 11, 1894.
