After an illness of about five months death came as a relief to one our highly esteemed residents, Mrs. Wm. Becker, on Tuesday evening at 10 o’clock. She was taken sick the fore part of December and has been confined to her bed almost continually since that time. Barbara Huber, was born March 19, 1852, at the Old Mission, where were spent the early years of her life. At Festina she was married to Mr. Wm. Becker of this place, on May 6, 1873. After their marriage they removed to this city where they have resided ever since, with the exception of a few months’ residence at Minneapolis. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her death her brothers, Louis and Frank of Old Mission, Henry of this city, and her sisters, Mrs. Koch of Milwaukee, Mrs. Giesen of Superior, Mrs. Huber of Spillville. Mrs. Etteldorf of Ossian, Mds. Schissel and Krumm of this place. The funeral services were held from the family residence and later from St. John’s church and interment was made at the Catholic cemetery on Friday at 9:30. The pall bearers were Frank Hauber, R. J. Becker, Charles, Fred, Jerome and Frank Huber. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful, showing the respect in which she was held by all. Those from out of town who were here to attend the funeral were Messrs. Chas. And Frank Giesen and sister Irma of Superior, Mr. and Mrs. Etteldorf, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Heck, Mr. and Mrs. Becker of Ossian, Henry Giesen and Jos. Becker of Calmar, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Huinker of Festina, and Mr. and Mrs. Meyer of Sioux City.
