OBITUARY.
MOSES OREN.
At St. Frances’ hospital in LaCrosse, Wis., on Tuesday morning, April 18th{?}, after an illness of many months, Mr. Moses Oren passed away. Death was due to heart failure. Mr. Oren was taken to the hospital March 24th and gained strength so rapidly that an operation was decided upon. For several days after this his recovery seemed certain, but on the Friday preceding his death he was taken much worse and gradually weakened until the end came.
Moses Oren was born near Wilmington, Clinton Co., Ohio, Jan 28, 1840. He came to Hesper, Iowa, Aug. 28, 1854, and settled just across the state line in Minnesota, remaining there for ten years. He then made his home in Hesper for several years before removing to the home in Highland township, where he lived for 40 years.
In 1867 he was married to Emily J. Wilson who, with two sons, still survive him—Clarence H. Oren of Gooding, Idaho, and Glenn R. Oren of Harrington, Wash.
During his long years of residence here he had endeared himself to many, who will miss the companionship of a warm friend and loyal neighbor. In his home he was a tender, loving husband and father. He was a birthright member of the Friends church but later in life united with that church and has always allied himself closely with the interests of the church.
The funeral was held from the Friends church in Hesper, Sunday afternoon, at 2 o’clock, Rev. Carter officiating, assisted by Rev. Mellott of the Methodist church.

We are sorry to have to report the death of Mr. M. Oren, which took place at the hospital in LaCrosse last Tuesday. He had been getting along nicely since his operation and was considered out of danger until within a few hours of his death. We understand heart failure was the cause of death. His son Clarence, who had been with him all the time, had started Saturday morning for Portland Oregon, thinking his father past danger. This left Mrs. Oren, who is very poorly, to bear the blow alone. Miss Mae Decker, who has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Oren for a number of years, was telegraphed for at Minneapolis and came as quickly as possible and proved herself a friend indeed by doing much to help Mrs. Oren bear her grief. Clarence could not be found by telegram so neither of the sons were present at the funeral. Funeral services were held at the Friends church at 2 P. M., Sunday, April 24th. Mrs. Oren has the sympathy of a host of loving friends. Moses Oren was born near WIlmington, Clinton coutny, Ohio, Jan. 28, 1840. He came to Hesper, Iowa, Aug. 28, 1854. He settled in Minnesota and remained there for ten years. For several years he made his home in Hesper before moving to his home in Highland township, where he lived for forty years. He died April 19, 1910, aged 70 years, 2 months and 22 days.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in the Hesper Public Cemetery. It also shows he died April 19 which was a Tuesday.
