In Memoriam:--Mrs. Wm. Elliott died on Feb. 10, 1910, at her home on the Wm. Kenneth farm. Mrs. Elliott’s maiden name was Delia Murphy. She was born March 17, 1857, in Hartland, Ill. In the early sixties she came with her mother, sisters and brother to Iowa, locating in Bluffton township, where the deceased had spent most of her life. On August 12th, 1887, she was married to Wm. Elliott Mrs. Elliott was a good and kind woman, always willing to lend a helping hand in case of necessity, always ready to assist when called upon to minister to the sick. Mrs. Elliott always loved her home, especially her husband and only son. There was always the approving smile on the mother when she looked exultantly on her child walking in the way in which he should go, when she saw in her son a generous spirit, in quest of knowledge, a yearning after all that was really good. With maternal tenderness her eyes were bent upon his brow, when she passed away. Though we have said much about the departed one, there is yet to be described the crowning smile of all, the last one this side of the grave. We have seen it, and have felt its great influence in the heart. It was not the smile of piety, forgiveness, kindness, sympathy, friendship or affection but the glowing exultation of an almost glorified soul lingering for a moment on the confines of eternity. We will not call it the happiness of a saint about to die, but the one lit up by the bright expectation of the glory of heaven. The funeral services were held last Saturday morning from the3 Catholic church in Decorah, Rev. Fr. Hawe officiating. Her remains were laid to rest by the sideof{sic} her mother in the Catholic cemetery in Bluffton, Rev. Fr. Mullen officiating at the grave. Mrs. Elliott leaves to mourn her loss a kind husband and a loving son, one sister, Mrs. Hugh Kelly of Plymouth Rock and one brother, Michael Murdock of Woodstock, {?}

Transcriber’s Note: One place it says her maiden name was Murphy but then it shows her brother as being Murdock. Her gravestone in St. Bridget’s Cemetery shows her year of birth as 1858.
