KILLED IN THE WOODS.
John Cassell Suddenly Killed While Out Cutting Timber.
Last Monday while John Cassell was in the woods with his father Samuel Cassell, cutting timber about a mile from Coldwater, he met death in a very peculiar manner. He was felling a large tree, about two feet in diameter, and had gotten through the trunk when it fell. In falling a large strip peeled off the side, sticking up and still connecting the trunk with the stump. Mr. Cassell at once began cutting the strip and as soon as severed it flew back, hitting him on the head and breaking his skull. He was at once hurried home, medical aid summoned and everything done to save his life, but without avail. He never recovered consciousness and died Tuesday morning about 4 o’clock. Mr. Cassell was a man much esteemed in his neighborhood, a hard worker and a kind father and husband. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn his loss.
