The following biography was handed us for publication: Moses A. Bollman was born at Zanesville, Ohio, January 26, 1838, and passed away at his home December 11, 1909, at the age of 71 years, 10 months and 15 days. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1853 and settled in Allamakee county, where he resided until the beginning of the war of the rebellion, when he cheerfully responded to the call and enlisted from Allamakee county in the 1st Iowa Cavalry, and served his country to the end of the war. He was united in marriage to Nancy E. Harris, Nov. 5, 1867, who died February 5, 1872. To this union three children were born, Mrs. Amos McMartin of Monango, N. D., Willard E., of Grand Forks, N. D., and Mrs. Edward Green of Castalia, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Carry E. Brown March 14, 1874. To this union eight children were born, Fenton E. of Middleton, Idaho; Parker T. of Basin, Wyo.; Mrs. Hays Hoagland of Republic, Wash.; Ferrel of Cottonwood, S. D.’ Mrs. Brunnie Post of Ellendale, N. D.; Talcot, Vives and Oberton of Castalia. About the year 1869 he moved to his farm two miles east of Castalia, Ia., where he has lived continuously since. He was a kind father and loving husband, and was very highly esteemed among his neighbors and friends. When Mr. Bollman was but a young man he united with the United Brethren church at Castalia and his life has been characterized by devotion to his Lord and loyalty to his church. In his day of activity he was one of the dependable in church work and even down to old age he was one of the constant attendants at divine service. The funeral was held from the U. B. church Sunday, Dec. 12, the Rev. Penn officiating. The body was interred at Pleasant View cemetery. Thus another old veteran has received his final discharge and joined the ranks of the majority.
