John Knudt Lee, 66, of Monona, Iowa passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Gundersen Clinic in Waukon, Iowa after a courageous battle with cancer.

John was born on December 29, 1956, in Decorah, Iowa the son of Keith and Gertrude Lee. John began school at Decorah elementary and later attended MFL community after his parents moved to their farm near Luana, Iowa in 1965. He graduated from MFL community high school with the class of 1975. John participated in both wrestling and football. He was elected homecoming king by his classmates his senior year. John was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed the outdoors and seeing the crops grow. He was actively involved in farming with his father and brothers raising purebred hogs.

John was united in marriage to Diane Whitener on June 7, 2003 at Highland Lutheran Church rural Elgin, Iowa. To this union 3 children were born.

John is survived by his children, Benson Lee of Cedar Rapids and Kallie Lee of McGregor. Father Keith Lee of Wadena. Siblings Jacob (Carol) of Moyo, Uganda, Jackie Marion, Jeff Wadena, and Jens (Denise) Lee New London. Nephews and Nieces, Joshua, Josiah, Anna, Kaitlyn and Megan. Many other extended family, aunt, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and many friends.

John was preceded in death by wife Diane in 2022, son Garrick Lee in 2004, and mother Gertrude Lee in 2020.

No services are planned at this time.
