Clifford Harnack age 83, of Ossian, IA, formerly of Postville, IA, died peacefully in his home, of natural causes, on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023, at the Helms Funeral Home, 604 South Ave in Decorah. Burial will be held in the spring at the Postville cemetery. The Helms Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Clifford was born on August 14, 1939, to the late Harlan and Frances (Thornton) Harnack on the family farm in Castalia. Clifford attended and graduated from Postville High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to Donna (Rima) Aldredge on January 22, 1966. She preceded him in death on August 4, 2012. They had four children.

Clifford was employed at Felco Land O lakes, Super Sweet Co-op, and the Turkey Plant in Postville, IA and Monona Co-op in Monona, IA. He enjoyed watching any sports on TV, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. Clifford and Donna enjoyed Sunday drives to visit family and going to many area parades. He enjoyed “going fishing” at the Marquette casino and playing cards at Shooter’s in Ossian.

Clifford is survived by his three children; Renee (Rick) Gunderson of Decorah, IA, Laurie (Brian) Dahl of Ossian, IA, Tom Harnack of Monona, IA and Donna’s son Mike (Yvonne) Aldredge of Cresco, IA. Twelve Grandchildren; Carrie (Dereck) Buddenberg, Tricia (Bj) Crary, Nick Dahl, Mario (Veronica Santoyo) Hernandez, Arica Holden-Harnack, Zachary Harnack, Meranda Harnack, Alisha Miller-Harnack, Lexie Tripp, Kisha Harnack, Jordan Harnack and Miracle Harnack. 12 great-grandchildren. One brother; Marlin Harnack of Prairie du Chien, WI, and two sisters-in-law; Judy (Charlie) Boese of Decorah, IA, and Jane (Buck) Henry of Cresco, IA.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Clifford was preceded in death by his daughter Patty Harnack, his great-granddaughter Riley Mae Larson, sister Judy Harnack, his father-in-law Donald Rima, and father and mother-in-law Ralph and Lois (Iverson) Houdek.
