James T. Relf Died This Morning.
Early this morning after an illness of many months, James T. Relf passed away at his home on Grove street. Mr. Relf was a member of one of the pioneer families of the county and until sickness confined him to the house he was an active business man, being engaged in photography and other enterprises. We are unable at this hour (eight o’clock) to secure the data of his life. He is survived by his wife and sons Ray and Robert, who will have the sympathy of a host of friends in their bereavement.

OBITUARY.
James T. Relf, whose death occurred last Thursday morning, July 22d, at an early hour, was born Jan. 27, 1847, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, and came to Decorah as a lad with his parents in 1855. During all the intervening years this has been his home, making him at the time of his death one of the oldest settlers of the county and township. On Thanksgiving day, 1876, he was married at Monroe, Wis., to Fannie A. Whittier, who, with their sons Roy and Robert, survive him. He is also survived by one brother and one sister, W. E. Relf of Orchard, Neb., and Mrs. John T. Baker of St. Paul. In 1901 at the meetings held at the Congregational church by Rev. Pratt, Mr. Relf was converted, and while he did not affiliate with any denomination he was a regular attendant at church services, and when he fell asleep it was with hope and faith in the resurrection to eternal life at the coming of Christ. The funeral was held Saturday morning last and the remains were interred in Phelps cemetery.
