George Eugene Turner of Marble Rock, Ia. died July 26 at Charles City, Ia. after a long illness.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. conducted by the Rev. David Burmaster at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marble Rock, Ia. The Rev. Donald C. Thorson of Chippewa, Wis. conducted the 3 p.m. burial services at the Union Prairie Cemetery, Decorah.

Mr. Turner is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth Istad of Decorah, one son, Andrew of Pasadena, Texas, one daughter, Charlotte of Marble Rock, Ia., two brothers, three sisters and four grandchildren.

George Turner served with the 82nd Airborne Division in World War II and participated in the "D-Day" assault. He was wounded in Holland and decorations awarded him included the Bronze Battle Star and Purple Heart. He also received a citation from the Queen of Holland.
