Through M W. Harden of Marshall, Minn., to Milo Wilsie of Burr Oak came the news last week of the death of Mrs. Sarah Cook, youngest daughter of the late Alpha Manning, a pioneer of Burr Oak. Mr. and Mrs. Cook were married here in 1868 and 1872 they moved to Lyon county, Minn, then a great way off, but now quite near. Their home was near Marshall. The journey was made by what was then termed “prairie schooner”. They were great sufferers in the blizzard, of 1873, which is still remembered as the “great blizzard.” In 1898 they removed to Roland, Ala., on account of the ill health of Mr. Cook, and she died there Feb. 1st of heart failure. Had been talking over the phone, sat down and was relating to Mr. C. what she had heard, when she suddenly expired without any warning.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she was born Sept. 4, 1847 and is buried in the Nebo Church Cemetery in Tanner, AL. It also shows she was married to Charles Alwood Cook.
