Mary Krumm was born in Ulster county, New York, May 19th, 1848, and died Feb 15, 1909, of heart failure. She came with her parents to Winneshiek county, Iowa, in 185{?}, and with the exception of several years’ residence in Missouri and Castalia, Iowa, her life has been spent on the farm where she lived at the time of her death. Jan. 1, 1873, she was united in marriage to Francis Youmans, and to this union one son and one daughter were born, Edwin and Ida, who with the heartbroken husband are left to mourn the loss of a beloved wife and mother. She was a sincere Christian woman, a kind neighbor and friend, ever ready and willing to do for others and her sudden death will be greatly deplored throughout the community. She has gone home, but our loss is her eternal gain. The funeral services were held at the Centennial church Thursday at 11 o’clock, conducted by Rev. A. J. Gregg of the Presbyterian church of Frankville, assisted by Rev. Bonnell, the U. B. pastor of Castalia. Many beautiful flowers were placed on her casket by loving friends as a token of their esteem and a large concourse followed her to her last resting place. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones. The relatives from away who were present at the funeral were Charley Krumm of Mitchell, S. D., Mrs. Minerva Krumm of Defiance, Iowa, and Mrs. Mamie War{?} of Hawkeye, Iowa.

By the death of Mrs. Youmans, which was reported in last week’s Republican, the people of Ravena were called to lay to rest one of its loved, respected and useful members. She was ever unflinching in her devotion to her family. To her friends she was a comfort, an inspiration, and a never-failing source of wit and humor. To the sick, the poor and the needy she gave unstintingly of her sympathy, her time, and always relieved their temporary wants to the utmost extent of her ability to do so.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows her maiden name spelled Krom.
