Capt. T. R. Crandall Dead.

A telegram received Monday by C. W. Burdick brought the information that his brother-in-law, Captain T. R. Crandall, died Saturday at his home in Monrovia, Cal. Capt. Crandall was a business man in Decorah and a partner of Aaron Newell in the latter part of the fifties. In 1861 he responded to the call to arms and went out as a volunteer and captain of Company E, 38th Iowa, afterward being advanced to the quarter mastership of the regiment. At the conclusion of three years of service, he returned to Decorah and made his home here until in the seventies when he moved to Northwood and with R. C. Pike engaged in the banking business. They subsequently sold out and some fifteen years ago Mr. Crandall moved to California and made his home at Monrovia. His wife was Susan McMurtrie and she with their daughter Lettie (Mrs. H. S. Harris) and son John survive.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born in 1835 and is buried in Live Oak Memorial Park in Monrovia, CA.
