Charles Alfred Flatland, following an illness of two years from tuberculosis, the result of an attack of Spanish influenza, died at his home of his sister, Mrs. James M. Peyer, Monday, June 7, 1920. The deceased was born in Frankville, Iowa, August 5, 1885, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Flatland, and a number of years made his home in Ossian. In November, 1917, at Bismark, N. Dak., he was united in marriage with Miss Jennie Olson to which union one child, Kenneth Jennings, was born, both of whom survive. While a resident of Bismark he contracted influenza which developed tuberculosis. He spent some time in Arizona and returned to Ossian in August last year. His physicians pronounced him cured.

Charles was a member of the Norwegian Lutheran church, and received the spiritual consolation of the church before departing this life. Funeral services were held yesterday at Stavanger church, Rev. Kvamme officiating, and burial was made in Stavanger cemetery.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were his sister, Mrs. John Holm of Coleman, So. Dakota; Mr. Ole Samuelson and daughter, Lena, of Frankville, Mr. Grant and family and Mr. Ole Samuelson and family of Decorah.

The deceased was a good young man and had many friends, all of whom regret his departure and all of whom extend to the surviving relatives heartfelt sympathy. May he rest in peace.
